National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB)

The National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) is the impartial organization who works collaboratively with member agency/jurisdictional boards throughout all fifty states and the District of Columbia. Their purpose is to advance public protection along the senior living and health services continuum through enhanced professional standards for Health Services Executives (HSE™).

As the nation’s leading authority of credentialing administrators and executives across the senior living and health services continuum, NAB develops and administers four national examinations, which are utilized for credentialing (licensing and certification) of administrators/executives who plan to enter the profession. These examinations include:

  1. The Core of General Knowledge (CORE)
  2. The Nursing Home Administration Line of Service (NHA)
  3. The Resident Care Assisted Living Line of Service (RCAL)
  4. The Home and Community Based Services Line of Service (HCBS)

In addition to national examinations listed, NAB hosts select state jurisprudence examinations through the national Pearson Professional Center (PPC) test network. For more information on these state-based examination offerings, please review the list within the NAB Candidate Examination Handbook.
